It has been a long, long time since I last blogged. But I am back. Let's see, since my last blog in November (eeekkk, quite a while ago)....
...we are still surviving here in Germany. Did not like the winter here. Cooolllddd, with LOTS of snow. The snow was fun for a while, but after trudging out in it every day, it got old. Junior worked on Thanksgiving, so Alex and I headed over there for a big 'ol dinner. Junior had prepared most of the food, and did lots of the set up, so he was exhausted. We did enjoy our Christmas. Alex was very fun this year. Once he saw his Cozy Coupe car, we could barely get him to open any more presents. We stretched the gift opening out over a couple of days. And we had several people from the Fire Dept. over for Christmas dinner. Very fun. Then we woke up the next morning feeling very sick, all 3 of us. We all got better just in time to celebrate New Year's with a few friends from the Fire Dept.
In February, just in time for my B-day :D we went on a trip with our wonderful friends, Amy and Scott, and their kids, to Venice. It was cold and rainy, but despite that, we had a really great time. Venice is beautiful. The food is wonderful. We were lucky to be there for the first day of Carnivale, so we got to see the beginning of everyone dressing up in amazing, elaborate costumes and masks. It was awesome! Oh, and did I mention the food? Yummy!!!!
In March our very good friend Angela came to visit for a quick trip. I'm afraid that we did not get to show her much of Germany. It was still so great to get to visit with her.
Easter was a quiet holiday. Alex colored Easter eggs a while before Easter at Aunt Amy and Uncle Scott's house. Really, they did the coloring because he doesn't like to get his hands messy (Mommy is working to rectify that!). On Easter morning, Alex and Daddy colored more eggs. Then we had a little indoor egg hunt, just for Alex. It was drizzly and rainy just when we were ready to head out to hunt eggs. :( Each hard boiled egg that Alex picked up was plopped into his Easter basket. Each plastic egg was pried open to discover what was inside. How do they learn so quickly?!?!
In the middle of April we took a day trip to Brussels, Belgium. It's a super busy city, and we only saw a fraction of it in the short time that we were there. Mostly we ate a lot! It felt like we ate the whole day. Belgian waffles, fries - these are apparently a snack food eaten all the time in Belgium, sandwiches for lunch, Australian ice cream- yes, in Belgium and it wasn't very good, even Alex didn't eat his, Dinner on the Rue de Bouchers, and my favorite - Belgian chocolates! Good thing we did tons of walking all day long.
We are beginning to enjoy ourselves a bit more now that the weather is getting warmer and sunnier. (Is that a word, sunnier?) We are hoping to do some traveling this summer. For those who have not heard an update lately, Junior's deployment has changed again. We don't know where/when/if he is going. It's a waiting game for now.
So that was a quick summary of some of the things that we've been up to. I'll slap a whole lotta pictures up soon, in no particular order. Just want to put pics up to show you some of our trips, and lots of Alex I'm sure. I've been terrible at keeping in contact, but we would love to hear from you. Comments, email, skype, phone, letter, post card. Whatever. We really do miss all of our friends and family, and we hope that you are all doing well.
